Media studies assignment

The first camera angle i chose from this trailer  is a close up  ( 0.09)
  • the close up shows the bank robbers in detail which becomes more important as the film goes along and we get to see who the robbers are.
The second camera angle i chose was a extreme close up (0.12)
  • This shows one of the main characters that the film is based upon and shows him in great detail so the view can get to know all the character well before watching the film.

The third camera angle i chose was a over the shoulder shot (0.40)
  • This shows a conversation between tommy and turkish the main characters in the film
The last camera and i used was a two shot (0.54)

prelimilary excersise continuity

In fiction, continuity  is consistency of the characteristics of persons, plot, objects, places and events seen by the reader or viewer over some period of time. It is of relevance to several media.
Continuity is particularly a concern in the production of film and television due to the difficulty of rectifying an error in continuity after shooting has wrapped up. It also applies to other art forms, including novels, comics, anime, videogames and animation, though usually on a smaller scale.

Prelimary excersise shot and reverse shot

Shot reverse shot is a film technique where one character is shown looking at another character and then the other character is shown looking back at the first character. Since the characters are shown facing in opposite directions, the viewer assumes that they are looking at each other.

prelimary exercise match on action

Match on action means when something happens in the scene then whenthere is a cut the same piece of action must be going on this is an example on continuity editing and is very important as it helps the audience understand what is going on.

prelimary 180 degree rule

In filmmaking, the 180° rule is a basic guideline that states that two characters (or other elements) in the same scene should always have the same left/right relationship to each other. If the camera passes over the imaginary axis connecting the two subjects, it is called crossing the line. The new shot, from the opposite side, is known as a reverse angle.
